Linda Perrin, Ellsworth ME (web)
Glass Artist
"Flare"
Blown Glass, 30"x11"x11", set of sculptural vessels
Bio: "Through a humble approach to a dynamic material, Linda Perrin has maintained a professional career as a glass blower. Linda is a true example of the Studio Art Glass movement. Having been introduced to glass art in graduate school, she continued her training in a traditional apprenticeship with a master glass blower. And after moving to Maine, built her own studio on Mount Desert Island. As her glasswork became more refined and sought after, she created a larger studio in Ellsworth, Maine. Here she could work on larger projects and invite the public to experience the craftsmanship involved in shaping hot glass. Linda credits public access glass facilities like Urban Glass in Brooklyn, New York and Haystack School of Craft, in Deer Isle, Maine for inspirational associations with important glass artists such as Richard Marquis, Cheryl Ellinwood, Dante Marioni, and Dinah Hulet.
