"Kite Series #25"

24 carat gold and wood

Artist Statement: "In my work I would like to convey the sense of the voyage of ideals, the arrival of a dreamworld. To hover between the real and the spiritual world. To call up ‘stories’ from our collective past, still points around which our private memories revolve.” --James Strickland

Mixed media artist

"Schoodic"
Mixed Media:Mixed media: hand-painted tissue paper, oil pastels, colored pencil and oil stick, 18 1/4”x14 ½"

Artist Statement: "Artist’s Statement: Light and color are elusive qualities, offering ever-changing patterns that vary with the movement of branches and shadows through the landscape, with the seasons, the time of day, and the weather. My work is about these patterns. I create collages by first hand painting paper and then making shapes and designs that provide layers of color, light, and pattern, often accenting these patterns with other media, such as paint, colored pencil, oil pastel, or photographs that add texture and line, visual moments for the eye to focus on.” --Roberta Sprague
