"Pas Deux"

Installation © 2003, Hand knit coated wire, 45”h. 15”w. 11”d

Artist Statement: "I explore what Knitting can say sculpturally, trusting what I spin and shape to speak more directly than words. I use knitting as a construction technique, bending its traditions to do untraditional work. I carve or make armatures, hoping that my assembled pieces communicate by stance, by texture and color, by gesture and by implication. I conceive and intend my work symbolically, believing that people will feel included in the anonymity of my figures.” --Katharine Cobey
