Joshua Ferry, Maine/New Jersey (web)
Painter
"Pros & Cons"
Oil, Acrylic, Alkyd Resin and Wax on Canvas, 16x20, 2007
Artist Statement: "My paintings are based on process and discovery. Constructed with many layers of applied and sanded paint; the surfaces of my paintings end up thick, dense and smooth. Recently, I have been exploring the cross as a visual element; sometimes a singular cross or multiple crosses joined together like the patchwork of a quilt. My best paintings force me to embark on an investigative journey rather than simply depict an idea. Ultimately, I like to be surprised by my work.” --Joshua Ferry

Judy O'Donnell, Falmouth, ME (Email)
Sculptor & painter
"Goddess"
Bronze, 15x8, 2009
Artist Statement: "My work comes from my memories. Recollections combined with concrete objects (rubbings of everyday objects), animal manifestations, and common Maine sights. These associations take on personality through emotional connection to the place. Energy resonates, and merges sites into abstract symbols.” --Judy O'Donnell.
