AVE MARIS STELLA - Camden, Maine

Ave Maris Stella is a vocal ensemble that performs mostly early works, mostly "a cappella." We perform in a wide variety of languages and styles from English to Latin to Quechua, and from the sacred to the secular and from serious to light-hearted (download our recent program).

Most works are sung by all members, but small-ensembles (duets, trios and the like) are also a specialty. The group strives to bring unusual works to Maine audiences, yet more familiar music by such renowned composers as Byrd, Dufay, Monteverdi, Palestrina, and Josquin is also a large part of the repertoire. Sunday, June 27, 4:00 p.m. Friends of Music Concert Series, First Congregational Church of Camden, 55 Elm St. Poetry in Music: The Bard and Other Muses. A variety of repertoire based on the words of selected poets ranging from Petrarch and Shakespeare to Neruda and Teasdale.
