"View from Thrumcap" | Oil on Canvas | 30"X40"

Artist Statement: "After four decades in this business, my favorite pieces are the ones, when finished I can find some sort of a reflection of people, the places, and myself where I've been. I do not know how to invent without a reference, real, and digested into the personal. I need to first smell, to feel, to look up and down, right and left, to understand the giant canopy that stretches over and around. That long wide look, whether a view across a deep valley, or the model posing before me, informs and remains in my imagination. These first views are like gulps of air, some to be exhaled, and a bit to be stored for future consideration." -- Henry Isaacs

Artist Statement: "My paintings are based on observations, memories, and idealisms and how they are affected by time, changed, and distractions. The sensory worlds of my landscapes are delineated by margins much the way a daydream is impinged upon by an appointment. When I paint, I hope to portray the bittersweet magic of ideal moments, which manage to exist wedged between the other components of a hectic day." -- Susan Williams

"Mid-Light"| Photograph | 24"X36"

Artist Statement: "I try to view my work as I view my life. Not really focused in one area. This photograph represents part of that vision. I am intrigued by the daily views in life as much as the beauty of nature. The large and the small get almost reversed in their understanding and that's when we all become part of it." -- Joseph Corrado

Maine Artists Quotes

"My aim is to escape from the medium with which I work; to leave no residue of technical mannerisms to stand between my expression and the observer."

Maine-Magazine

Since 2008, Maine Arts Scene online magazine has been promoting Maine artists and arts organizations in new and enterprising ways. We quietly revolutionized the local magazine world by offering a truly democratic voice to Maine artists and arts organizations throughout the state. For a small fee, individual artists and arts organizations can submit their press releases to present their work and promote their events on our popular site and social networks. As we reached the 10,000 visits per month milestone in 2009, we decided to push the online magazine boundaries one step further by launching the first statewide juried multi-disciplinary virtual online showcase. We created a unique virtual experience that resembles an actual gallery space, with various rooms to navigate and art work displayed to scale. In 2012, Maine Art Scene is going one step further.  Maine artists and private collectors of Maine art will soon be able to create online stores and sell their work. Arts organizations including galleries, museums, and non-profits will also be able to set up online gifts shops,  box offices and donation pages.
