Artist Statement: These oil paintings are a result of Marc Leavitt using meditative actions to move literal text to "pure" abstraction. Stenciled text is exactingly drawn and painted within a grid format, followed by multilayered applications of oils at different stages of drying utilizing a palette knife. Mr. Leavitt's goal is to move literalness to a deeply thought out, sometimes even spiritual, experience. --Marc Leavitt

Artist Statement: "I am inspired by the natural world. The shapes, patterns, colors and forms have been making their way into my artwork since I was a child. Over the years I have explored many different mediums in my artistic endeavors. Painting, Encaustic, Assemblage, Photography have emerged as my mediums of choice. Often times it is a fusing of these mediums that are incorporated into a finished piece. Walking in the garden, along the rocky coast, or exploring a bird filled island, these are the magic moments that feed my imagination and my work.
