Artist Statement: "The two pieces in the showcase--Squawk and Measuring Man at Rest--are representative of what I make. Like most of my sculptures, they refer to an identifiable starting point but depart from that as work progresses. Squawk has become a metonomy for a bird. Measuring Man at Rest is one of series of sculptures showing a man with measuring implements." --John Wilkinson

From the way light gives color and shape to an object, to the movement of a dancer's dress, to the sensuous lines of a flower petal, Lori finds inspiration in the simple to the sublime. To capture these images, Lori has used traditional and digital photographic techniques such as montage and multiple exposure.” --Lori Hutchinson

Artist Statement: "For a long time, over 20 years, I cast figures in bronze. Eventually, that investigation ran it's course and after something of a 'vacant' period, my thoughts and energy were turned toward color and oil paint; from this has come a body of flat work in the form of paintings, drawings, and computer generated imagery. Long-dormant interests in certain design elements and materials - patterned geometries, repetition, color harmonies, gridded or banded landscapes, waxy bas-relief surfacing, metal leaf - currently hold my attention." --Kerstin Engman

Since 2008, Maine Arts Scene online magazine has been promoting Maine artists and arts organizations in new and enterprising ways. We quietly revolutionized the local magazine world by offering a truly democratic voice to Maine artists and arts organizations throughout the state. For a small fee, individual artists and arts organizations can submit their press releases to present their work and promote their events on our popular site and social networks. As we reached the 10,000 visits per month milestone in 2009, we decided to push the online magazine boundaries one step further by launching the first statewide juried multi-disciplinary virtual online showcase. We created a unique virtual experience that resembles an actual gallery space, with various rooms to navigate and art work displayed to scale. In 2012, Maine Art Scene is going one step further.  Maine artists and private collectors of Maine art will soon be able to create online stores and sell their work. Arts organizations including galleries, museums, and non-profits will also be able to set up online gifts shops,  box offices and donation pages.
