(Belfast, ME) January 8, 2011 – Maine Art Scene is pleased to announce the launch of its 2nd annual online artist showcase. Close to 90 artists submitted a combined total of over 400 pieces of art. After very careful consideration by founders Brenda and Thierry Bonneville as well as Maine art collector Sam Mitchell,  the selected pieces featured in the exhibit include 65 artists represented by 95 works of art. As with last year's showcase, the selected works will become part of Maine Art Scene's permanent art library.

"We were very pleased by the diversity of work submitted this year," said Brenda Bonneville, editor of Maine Art Scene. "The significant response to our call once again solidifies the fact that Maine enjoys an undeniable abundance of artistic talent. Our goal for the showcase is to provide artists the exposure they deserve and give viewers the opportunity to become familiar with new work."

"It was great working with Sam because he is an enthusiastic collector of Maine Art", said Thierry Bonneville media director of Maine Art Scene. "Of the 200 pieces of art he owns, Sam says that he gets joy out of them every day."

Maine Art Scene, LLC. (maineartscene.com), is Maine's online arts and culture magazine devoted to promoting Maine artists and arts organizations in new and enterprising ways. In 2011, Maine Art Scene is going one step further. Starting in December, Maine artists and private collectors of Maine art will be able to create online stores and sell their work. Arts organizations including galleries, museums, and non-profits will also be able to set up online gifts shops,  box offices and donation pages.

Maine Art Scene would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the many wonderful artists who submitted their work for consideration.

I just wanted to show and share appreciation to the 'Maine Art Scene', especially for its 'Virtual gallery'. An image from one of my paintings is on the cover of The Scene magazine this month thanks to the selection being made by the editor of the magazine after looking through the virtual online art gallery. Thanks to Maine art Scene for all it's creative work.

Maine-Magazine

Since 2008, Maine Arts Scene online magazine has been promoting Maine artists and arts organizations in new and enterprising ways. We quietly revolutionized the local magazine world by offering a truly democratic voice to Maine artists and arts organizations throughout the state. For a small fee, individual artists and arts organizations can submit their press releases to present their work and promote their events on our popular site and social networks. As we reached the 10,000 visits per month milestone in 2009, we decided to push the online magazine boundaries one step further by launching the first statewide juried multi-disciplinary virtual online showcase. We created a unique virtual experience that resembles an actual gallery space, with various rooms to navigate and art work displayed to scale. In 2012, Maine Art Scene is going one step further.  Maine artists and private collectors of Maine art will soon be able to create online stores and sell their work. Arts organizations including galleries, museums, and non-profits will also be able to set up online gifts shops,  box offices and donation pages.
